On Nietzsche...

 

Reading Nietzsche’s work  can be intoxicating - so intoxicating that it ought perhaps to carry a health warning: ‘Do not attempt to drive, operate machinery or to think when under its influence’. Anarchists, Fascists, Freudians, Existentialists, Post-modernists, neo-pagans, transgressive hairdressers and footballers, feminists and misogynists - even philosophers - have bathed in the foaming rhetoric of Thus Spake Zarathustra, his most popular book, and staggered off spouting hyperboles that would have appalled him.
