Ethics

Hodder Headline (Teach Yourself), 2006, 256pp,  0 340-92696-1, £9.99

In my view, ethics is the most relevant of all subjects - it is fundamental to living the good life in every sense.  I have particularly enjoyed up-dating this book for this 4th edition, because it has allowed me to read, reflect on and introduce so many examples from the newspapers of ethical dilemmas in the early months of 2006.

Teach Yourself Ethics introduces the main ethical theories and

key thinkers, to show how people have argued in the past. But it also examines modern ethical issues and case studies. It is aimed at the general reader, at A level students, and at those who are thinking about, or preparing for, the start of a university course including ethics.

The 3rd edition included sections on Feminism, Genetics, Business Ethics and Environmental Ethics. These have been retained, but the sections have been re-structured for the 4th edition, which also includes a chapter on scepticism and relativism in ethics.
