Lavender fiends near Valensole, visited while staying near Manosque, which also proved a handy jumping-off point for visiting the magnificent Gorges du Verdon

 

 

The cloister of the Abbey of Thoronet - a cool place to stroll as a break away from the sun and the heat of Provence in summer.
